The U.S. Navy Just Deployed The Worlds First Laser Weapon System

Two and a half years in testing, the US Navy has just officially skipped beyond Ronald Reagan's Star Wars... They officially have laser weapons at sea!

Now, while this certainly isn't the first idea for laser weapons, it is the first to be officially deployed. In true 'government contract' fashion, Generation 2 is probably in Beta at the moment, and Gen3 is probably already on the chalkboard... but we'll have to wait to hear back on it.

Whether it's a flash in the pan type technology or not, as a taxpayer, anyone can appreciate the idea of a dollar per shot.
