There’s Another Shortage in Lawton This Time It’s Pepsi Products
For the past several weeks it seems like every time I go into a store or pull through the drive-thru to get a Pepsi they're sold out. Last week I ended up going to 4 different convenience stores just to find a Pepsi.
It's crazy but there's a Pepsi shortage in Lawton, Fort Sill. At first, I thought I was imagining things but then I starting doing some research and it's no joke, there is a National shortage that includes all Pepsi products.
You can still find Pepsi in 12 and 24 packs at most grocers around town. However, even those can be hard to find at times and sell out quickly. It's the 20oz bottles that are the most difficult to find, especially cold.
You can still get Pepsi from the fountain, but the 20oz bottles are hard to come by at least in Lawton. The shortage includes all the Pepsi products from regular Pepsi, all the different flavors, diet, and even Gatorade.
So why is there a shortage? It's all tied to the COVID-19 pandemic and the fallout we've experienced ever since. Right now most, if not all manufacturers are facing supply issues and have had to dial back their production due to limited availability of resources, staffing limitations, shipping, and supply chain problems.
Basically, the perfect storm to cause shortages and re-stocking delays. Due to this Pepsi and several other soft drink companies have had to increase their prices to offset the disruption.
We've had to endure all kinds of shortages over the past year or two and like all the others we'll live through it and things will eventually get better. Remember the great toilet paper debacle of 2020?
Hopefully, things will improve and the supply and demand will become balanced once again. In the meantime, if you're a Pepsi or Gatorade fan you can expect to see empty coolers and shelves from time to time. So have you run into this yourself? Surely it's not just me...
