Like most things, it appears that some of us take Lake Lawtonka for granted. It's a stellar fishing lake that always seems to produce big fish. Not only just the largemouth variety, the Oklahoma state record smallmouth bass came out of those waters just a few years ago. As Spring sets in, the spawn is on, and anglers are pulling out the slabs and whoppers left and right!

It's also a very healthy lake, as apparent by the beaver activity. You see, if the lake didn't offer enough of natures bounty, the beavers are usually the first to leave. Even though we've done a ton to reintroduce these species, they still wouldn't stay if they couldn't make a life on those waters. Maybe you should head out there this weekend. It'll be a little windy, but the fish should be biting, filling up before the cold front.
