One Of America’s Top-50 Restaurants Is In OKC
When it comes to good eats, Oklahoma is full of them. They mainly cater to home-cooking country dishes, usually deep-fried with a side of gravy, but other tastes stand out in a crowd. One Oklahoma City restaurant was named in the Top-50 Restaurants in America.
Off in the wilds of OKC somewhere between Bricktown and the Paseo District, there is a restaurant called Ma Der Lao Kitchen. They serve up a mix of Laotian-inspired flavors that swing from savory to sour, salty to bitter, and spicy if you can take the heat. It's a menu that has the foodie community raving.
According to the official website, restauranteur owner Chef Jeff spent has made a name for himself by serving up all of the delicious recipes his mother fed him growing up. Publications like Bon Appetite and The New York Times agree his cuisine is among the best in the country.
The next time you're in OKC, or if you want to make a special trip for the food, pop over to the Plaza District to sample the eats at Ma Der. Official website here.
A few Texas restaurants also made the Top-50 list, but not in the cities you'd expect...
Reese Bros Barbeque was among those eateries receiving top honors, and who can really complain? Texas is full of amazing barbeque, but uppity foodies agree this smoke-shack in San Antonio is the best.
Lubbock of all places earned a spot on that list too. Apparently, there's a fine-dining establishment somewhere in that glorified college town called The Nicolett with some wild "high plains" cuisine. Dishes like elk tartare, West Texas crudites, and poussin baked masa.
