From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital, highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitty 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

I think you should come down and take a look at both of us, see if you're interested in taking us home, and giving us love for the rest of our lives. Come down to Lawton Animal Welfare, 2104 SW 6th Street, and ask for me by name, remember my name is John! 580 581-3218

    Rainbow Bridge Can Wait - 580 919-0439

This handsome fellow is Archie. He is about a year old. He is a German Shepherd mix. Archie is such a laid back, beautiful soul, who is house trained and loves being in the house, and rarely gets excited except when someone tries to come in his yard. He loves his toys and blankets to play with. Archie plays well with both big and small dogs, but he hasn't been observed around cats, so that remains unknown. He loves to snuggle (on his terms) and is learning what kisses are. He does not like his crate though.

Archie comes with age appropriate vaccines, he is heart worm negative, microchipped and on monthly heart worm preventative. He is also on monthly flea and tick preventative. The rescue will activate his microchip and pay for up to a year of monitoring. He also comes with 30 days of free vet insurance. If you are interested in Archie, please call Rainbow Bridge Can Wait at 580-654-2513 or contact us on Facebook.

Molly is a very sweet female Shih Tzu.  We don’t know a lot about her background other than her owner may have had too many dogs, and gave her up. Molly has been very nice with all the other dogs in her foster home as well as her human foster family too. She appears to be house trained and is quiet. She is eating well and will occasionally bark for food. Molly will even stand up on her back legs for a treat.

Molly is still young, maybe 2 years old. She is just a sweet and loving dog that is looking for a new home. She is current on all her vaccinations and has been spayed. She tested negative for heartworms and 4 tick borne diseases, and has also been microchipped.

For more information about adopting this pretty gal, e-mail swoan@swbell.net

Willbarger Humane Society (Vernon, TX) - 940 552-5373

At the Willbarger Humane Society, October is ADOPT A SHELTER PET MONTH! In order to celebrate we are reducing the price of adoptions to half. Cats will be $30 and dogs will be $45 for the month of October only.

Gracie is our pet of the week this week. She is a young border collie around 10 months old who is very sweet. She is black and white and full of energy. Her only naughty qualities are jumping fences and getting out of crates. Most likely she can learn to curb those behaviors with a little training.

She is very loving as well and likes other dogs and enjoys going on a run with people or with a nearby track team. She may be too energetic for small children but would be good for a couple who can give her time and attention.

Come see Gracie during Adopt a Shelter Pet month while adoption fees are $45 for dogs and $30 for cats. You can reach us by phone at 940-552-5373 or by email at whs76384@gmail.com. To put an application on any of our animals please visit www.wilbargerhumanesocietyvernontx.org
