Westboro Church is Headed to Owasso, Oklahoma… What to Know First

If you haven't paid any attention to the news across the Sooner State lately, there has been a lot of news out of Owasso, Oklahoma lately.

The tragic death of a nonbinary Oklahoma teen has been kicked up to federal investigators, and Westboro Baptist Church won't appear to let this tragedy go to waste, allegedly.

According to their site, they're planning on protesting/preaching at the Owasso School Board building followed by a trip to Owasso High School afterward.

Naturally, this is rousing the response WBC was hoping for. Tons of people are sharing online how they plan to show up and counter-protest.

Why?

According to Wikipedia, Westboro Baptist Church has a reputation of trolling people in order to successfully sue individuals/businesses/local governments on constitutional grounds... and they are very successful in doing this.

From the outside looking in, this isn't about religion... it appears it's all about money. The best way to get a rise out of people is to kick 'em while they're down and dealing with extremely stressful situations--like when WBC protests at the funerals of fallen soldiers.

Confrontation leads to lawsuits.

Treating them like any other attention-seeking bully from your past, if you ignore them they'll have zero power.

In fact, if everyone ignored this group, they'd eventually give up and stop making headlines. After all, who cares about a protest nobody shows up to, right?
