Christmas really did sneak up on us all this year. It has just been so warm, it hasn't felt like the season at all.

I swear, the older I get, the faster the whole year goes by. One minute you’re dressing down in red, white, and blue, the next you're untangling lights and dragging totes out of the garage and wondering how it all went by so fast.

Which brings up the age-old question that never seems to have a right answer. When do you actually take all the Christmas stuff down?

At our house, we usually start right after Christmas. Sometimes it’s that awkward week between Christmas and New Year’s where nobody knows what day it is, and leftovers become a food group. Other times, life gets busy, and it stretches closer to New Year’s. But that’s it.

The real bummer of it is how much work it took to put it all up. The lights. The ornaments. The decorations that somehow never fit back into their original box no matter how carefully you try.

Then there are those who leave their Christmas stuff up even longer. A few folks never take their Christmas lights down at all. They’re just part of the house now. Flip the switch in late November and boom, instant Christmas.

Efficient? Sure. A little odd in July? Also yes.

Oklahoma's Weirdest Thanksgiving Foods

There is no shortage of weird Thanksgiving traditions around the Sooner State. Even my own family celebrates in our own unique way. Half of us hate turkey, and the others hate ham. Mom hates to spend days cooking for a 20-minute meal, and we all get tired of the leftovers. Instead, we have either a taco fiesta or a Chef Boyardee pizza kit party. Nobody complains.

We're not the only family with a weird Thanksgiving tradition, just take a look at these shockingly common Oklahoma TG dishes. It's amazing what the cooks come up with. The list is heavy on gelatin and jello molds, if anything it'd be worth trying at least one this year. They range from mild to wild, best of luck to you.
