You know, it is astonishing how quickly things can change in just a few years.

It seems that over the last few years, some of the Oklahoma towns with the worst reputations managed to turn things around, and there's no shortage of other communities willing to take their place.

Take Lawton for example--We constantly flip-flop between a horrible place and a mildly OK place to live. Some years the crime goes up, other years the local politicians manage to keep it under wraps. We appear and disappear from this list with regularity, but spoilers... Lawton isn't in the top twenty worst towns to live in Oklahoma this go-round.

Ignoring the expansion to the top twenty-three, here are the top 20 worst towns in the Sooner State for families in 2023.

Based on the stats of those living at or below the state poverty level, median household incomes, and unemployment, here are the poorest communities in Oklahoma.
