The Lawton Wolverines remained unbeaten in 6AII-2 football action Thursday night with a 72-27 win over Eisenhower.

The Wolverines scored the first 41 points of the game, including touchdowns from Matt Leon on defense and a special teams touchdown from Tristan Gooden. Lawton scored 4 first quarter touchdowns and never looked back and the icing on the cake came when Caitlyn Cox added a 42-yard field goal in the 4th quarter. Cox and her teammates celebrated at midfield as if she had just hit the game winner instead of giving them a 44 point lead. Lawton High improves to 6-1 on the season, and 4-0 in district play.

Lawton scored on 5 of its 7 first half possessions, as well as two of Eisenhower's. Tre Curry led the way for the Wolverines, running for 129 yards and two scores on 13 carries. Darreyl Patterson, who started at tailback for Lawton, ran for 123 yards on 12 carries before his work was done for the night late in the first half. The Wolverines also got great backfield efforts from Dequan Weaver and Jayquan Lincoln who rushed for 67 and 65 years respectively. Weaver also had a pair of scores while Lincoln had a 60 yard tou

On the defensive side, Leon returned his first quarter interception 34 yards for a score and also blocked an Eisenhower punt, which Tristan Gooden scooped up and returned 28 yards to paydirt. Gooden also had a 14 yard TD reception on offense.

The Wolverines were in control from the opening kick, and with Eisenhower starting quarterback Bentley Bross sidelined, the Eagles were never able to get on track. They were already without back-up quarterback Michael Womack, who was injured before the half the week before. The daunting duty of starting against one of the best defenses in Oklahoma then fell to sophomore signal caller Anthony Nottingham, who seemed over-whelmed by the task. Nottingham was replaced by sophomore Mookie Douglas, normally a running back, midway through the second quarter. Douglas led all players for the night, with 154 rushing yards on 26 carries. Douglas was also 2-of-3 passing for 66 yards, Eisenhower falls to 2-5 for the year, 0-3 in district play.
