Week one for the NFL is in the books and for some it was an un-welcomed return.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the NFL with the National Anthem protests and other social justice demonstrations that are taking place within the league. Some are boycotting the NFL and refuse to tune in. Others are accepting of what's happening and still others are watching but disagree with the all protests, or at least the venue.

Over the weekend it seemed pretty evenly split between my family and friends, the same for my Facebook and Twitter feed. Some people were boycotting others weren't. There were plenty of opinions and posts both for and against. One thing is for sure it's definitely created a lot of argument in the NFL and it's fans. This past Thursday and Sunday night games saw a sharp decline in viewership. Overall it was down over 12% however the numbers are still coming in, but it's certainly lower than week one last year.

So is it the boycott or some other factor creating the loss in ratings? It's still to early to tell, but the NFL will surely address it one way or another. A lot of people especially sportscasters and analysts were predicting huge increases due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the overall lack of sports over the past several months. Obviously that didn't happen despite the sports drought and uncertainty of the 2020 football season.

So what are your thoughts? Will you be boycotting the NFL over players and teams kneeling during the National Anthem and other social justice protests during the games?
