The 10 Best Players In Oklahoma City Thunder History

You know, while I'm not a "sports guy" or whatever, I do dabble in Oklahoma's teams. OSU is my chosen team, but I love to see the Sooners do well too when we're not playing against each other. And who hasn't Thunder'd Up over the last two decades? Granted, I've only been to one Thunder game in my life, but it was a pretty good one.

2010 playoffs, Lakers vs Thunder in Bricktown. They were free tickets so we were way up in Loud City, but nobody was complaining. Kobe Bryant was on the court that night, a hindsight treat of a memory. Plus, the building was absolutely rocking, and we got to see the dynamic trio of Westbrook, Durant, and Harden in their early days.

The Original Thunder Core

We all feared the beard and OKC won on that night.

Now, the Lakers eventually won the series, but that night was enough to understand what was happening in Oklahoma City. The Thunder weren't simply another professional sports team that happened to move into town. Oklahoma instantly adopted this new team, and the energy was unlike any sports crowd across the state.

Sixteen years later, the feelings haven't fallen off.

We've watched Russell Westbrook become one of the most recognizable athletes Oklahoma has ever had. We've watched Kevin Durant become an MVP, Oklahoma's second-favorite son, and the Sooner State's biggest villain. We've watched the team rebuild from the ground up, eventually finding its way to SGA and a championship that finally brought the trophy to Oklahoma City.

A New Generation Of Thunder Stars

And now we're watching the next version of the Thunder.

SGA is Oklahoma's new prince. Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, and the rest of that young roster proved themselves in that big championship win in 2025. Add in the pile of prime draft picks over the next few years, OKC should be able to dominate for a while.

Even so, while those original rosters will always have a place in every Thunder fan's heart, there's no telling where the current group will eventually land on a future list.

Maybe someday we'll look back and realize we're watching another generation of Thunder legends being built right now.

For now, based on a whole lot of fan opinions, here are the 10 players who have meant the most to the OKC Thunder so far, weighing what they accomplished here along with the connection they made with Oklahoma fans.

And yes, I know there are going to be some arguments. OKC's season starts October 6th, it's time to Thunder Up!
