Well it certainly didn't take long, no time at all in fact, for another scam to start making the rounds here in town. It seems like every time a scam is identified and finally stamped out, another one is quick to replace it. There's no shortage of people looking to steal your money and identity. You have to be on the look out and on guard for potential scams and scammers at all times these days. Otherwise you'll end up broke or have your credit and reputation destroyed. Well, we have yet another scam that's been reported in Lawton, Fort Sill.

Well, it didn't take long before scammers returned to Lawton, Fort Sill and the surrounding area to rob people of their money, identities and piece of mind. Be on guard and very careful with both your money and identity, the "Grandparents" scam has come back to town. I really hope that those committing this crime are caught and severely punished. I hate all scammers, but those who target the elderly are especially vile. Locally there have been reports of this scam making the rounds and unfortunately a few people have already fallen victim.

Yesterday afternoon (02-01-21) I was headed home from work when I saw the smoke rising from the East side, huge plumes of heavy black smoke and ash filling the sky. As I got closer and closer I realized it was coming from my neighborhood and feared the worst. I pulled in and immediately saw all the fire trucks and police fighting a fire at the old Park Lane Elementary School located at 4912 S.E. Avalon Ave.

Yesterday (02-24-21) Oklahoma legislators passed another bill, HB 2273. It's a companion bill to SB 6 which passed the Oklahoma State Senate earlier. Both bills would make it illegal to photograph or video law enforcement and publish it on an online site, forum or social media platform. There's been a lot of confusion and concern with the two bills as you can imagine. So what exactly will the new law(s) do and what are the penalties be for violating the law(s)? Also, if this does become law when will it take effect?

BEWARE. There's a new, or a new spin on a recent scam making the rounds in Lawton, Fort Sill. Whatever you do DON'T FALL FOR IT. It's very similar to the scam we reported several months ago where you'd receive a random call from an unknown number. The person on the phone tells you, or leaves a message saying they're with the Lawton Police Department. They may even say they're an officer and that there's a warrant out for your arrest. They instruct you to pay a fine or be taken to jail. IT'S A SCAM!

This lady torches her ex-boyfriend's Jeep using gasoline and a lighter. She's lucky to still be alive when an explosion and fireball erupt from the vehicle after she lights it. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, especially if they have gas and a lighter. The whole thing was captured live by a cellphone and she's now internet famous, for all the wrong reasons.
