Over the Thanksgiving weekend, my nieces and nephews asked their old and cool Uncle Kelso about what it was like to grow up in Oklahoma during the 1900s.

If that makes you feel old, I get it, but it was sort of fun reminiscing about the past with my sisters and their husbands. I even unlocked a memory deep in my mind of asking my parents and their families about what it was like in the 1950s and 1960s.

Life really is cyclical, isn't it?

Even though the 90s was literally decades ago, the small similarities between my own childhood and my nephew's is sort of shocking.

The big toys were video games. Action figures and remote control cars were core. My generation was obsessed with Batman and Ninja Turtles, their generation is all about Marvel Avengers and still somehow also Ninja Turtles. Legos are still a stellar gift to receive, but it's still also very different.

Nintendo has become PS5. Gameboy is now the Switch. Kids want laptops and TVs, which is halfway familiar.

Even though there is a generational Gen-X/Xennial/Millennial gap between us siblings, there were some things we all remembered the same.

Every Oklahoma 90s Kid Remembers These Christmas Things

I can't believe Millennials have grown to an age of nostalgia where they can't stop talking about how great their own childhoods were. While I may consider myself an Elder Millennial who lived through the 80s, every Oklahoma Millennial woke up Christmas morning with one or more of these under the tree.
