City of Lawton 2020 Elk Hunt Applications Are Now Available

Applications are now available for the City of Lawton's 2020 elk hunt. If you are interested you will need to submit an application and have a valid Oklahoma hunting license. You can apply and submit your application anytime from now until the deadline which is 5:00pm CST on Friday, September 4th 2020 (09-04-20). The drawing for the hunts will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2020 (09-16-20). You could be drawn for an elk hunt of a lifetime!

Elk season will run from October 8th through the 11th then again on December 10th through the 13th. If you plan on applying and are drawn for a hunt we certainly wouldn't be opposed to accepting any elk meat you'd like to share with us. Without a doubt elk is the absolute best venison hands down. It's been too long since I've had any, and I'm thinking chili and some homemade jerky would be perfect. I think the last time I had it was at the Geronimo volunteer fire department chili cook off. They had some elk chili that was amazing, I'm pretty sure it was a winner that day.

This Fall/Winter hunting season is going to be more than welcomed. With everything that's going on right now I think we could all use a little time off the pavement to re-connect with nature and spend some time in the great outdoors.
