Just last year, Tulsa had seven chefs as semifinalists for the Best Chef Southwest award from the James Beard Foundation. And Florence's Restaurant in Oklahoma was one of the James Beard Foundation's America's Classics Winner. According to the foundation's website, the "James Beard Awards are among the nation’s most prestigious honors recognizing leaders in the culinary and food media industries."

And in the last five years, we've seen several restaurants in Oklahoma City receive national recognition. Like in 2018, nonesuch in Midtown Oklahoma City was named the best restaurant in America by Bon Appetit.

Ma Der Lao Kitchen in Uptown Oklahoma City received recognition from The New York Times and Bon Appetit in 2022 as one of the top 50 restaurants in America.

Along with food, there have been restaurants and bars in Oklahoma that have been recognized for their drink menus and craft cocktails. In 2022, the Polo Grill was a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Wine Program. Also in 2022, Valkyrie, a Tulsa craft cocktail bar, was a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Drinks Program.

Oklahoma Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dive's Guy Fieri Raved About On TV

We all know Guy Fieri is the self-proclaimed Mayor of Flavortown, and as such, we generally trust his discerning palate to guide us to the best food any place has to offer. At least the places he tends to go often offer up some really good eats, and in looking at this list, having eaten at most of these places a handful of times, he's not wrong. Here are the Oklahoma original restaurants that have been featured on Triple-D.
