Since the 1700's, the American breakfast has always been pretty simple and perfect.

There's something about this time of year that begs the question, why can't we cook a hot breakfast everyday? Schedules clash, getting the kids up and ready takes too long, and it's pretty expensive to be cooking bacon seven days a week.

All the same, if you're single or just plus-one, you too can live your bacon dreams.

Though, the real star of breakfast is the humble egg. It's a perfect super-food, or it should be. Sure, it has some cholesterol in it, but studies have shown that eggs tend to boost the good cholesterol in humans 92% of the time... and that other 8% is a negligible change to the bad stuff. Plus, eggs keep for weeks. They travel well, and don't need refrigeration (uniquely an American thing)

While I'm a sunny-side-up fan (which you can simplify with a little non-stick spray and a metal spatula) everyone should try poached eggs at least once. They're good, albeit unique.

The bacon featured in the video might be a little iffy. It appears to be about 95% pork fat, with a gentle strip of meat running through the middle... but given that it's smoked, the other white meat could be running up the shenanigans as it cooked up really well. Being that we don't live in a mecca for butchers, we're pretty well stuck on what we can buy in store, and what the rural kids are selling door to door. (Blue & Gold for the win!)

Toast is toast. +5 points if you butter and broil it in the oven. It does make a difference.
