First Fall is Over, Second Summer is Headed to Oklahoma This Weekend
While the last two weeks have felt amazing across Oklahoma, unseasonably like an early fall, Mother Nature is doing what it always does in the Sooner State... First fall is coming to a close just in time for the second summer.
This is the normal weather phenomenon in an average year of Oklahoma weather, but even so, it looks like it might be a really mild last hurrah for summer.
For those who love those hot temperatures, this weekend looks to be primed for outdoor fun.
With the cool weather these last two weeks, lakes across the state have likely cooled off enough to be refreshing once again, though Oklahoma pools may already be below the enjoyable threshold for most adults.
How long will Second Summer last?
While the weather is notoriously hard to predict in our part of the country, every forecast out there points to it being a weekend to possibly mid-next-week little blip on the thermometer. I'm sure your phone apps show the same thing.
Truth be told, they don't know. By the time Friday rolls around, maybe the 100°+ temps will linger through next Wednesday or longer... nobody really knows.
Between now and then, the National Weather Service has issued advisories on the possibility of thunderstorms widespread throughout the state and high fire danger as we roll onward toward true fall. May the odds be ever in your favor.
