Hollywood is Cutting the Leg Out from Under Chickasha, Oklahoma
There's is a giant art installation in Chickasha, Oklahoma dedicated to one of the most hilarious and nationally treasured Christmas movies in America. It's a giant leg lamp from A Christmas Story.
It stands fifty feet tall and adds a little something-something to the so-called Christmas Town, Oklahoma holiday season every year. But Hollywood - specifically Warner Brothers - has sent a stern request to tear down the giant leg lamp on the grounds it violates the studio's copyright of the movie.
Pure shenanigans.

While they claim it's copyright infringement, it's important to note that the giant leg lamp paying homage to the film is a public art installment and nobody is making money on it. It's 100% free to visit and experience with your family, and the only things sold are officially licensed goods from Warner Bros.
What gives?

This may end up in court, and many Oklahomans are saying "Let it." We're not a state willing to be intimidated by a bunch of rumored pedophiles in Hollyweird, California.
It's also super weird that an industry and company built on the public perception of art is threatening to have a piece of public art that is free and open to the public be removed.
This may be a line in the sand Oklahoma can not only draw but enforce in mass.
