How To Buy $2 Tickets To The Oklahoma City Zoo
One of the best things to do in Oklahoma City is the zoo. Not only is it one of the best live music venues in the country, they have animals and stuff like any other zoo in the world. But like most awesome things, it can cost more than you'd expect if you're planning on taking the whole family. If only there were a cheat code to get $2 tickets... You're in luck.
If you've ever stopped at one of the highly traveled intersections in OKC, there's no doubt you've seen some poor homeless soul offering to sell you a newspaper on the cheap. It's called The Curbside Chronicle and it's written for, about, and by those who are either homeless or at risk of being in such a predicament. The people you see selling the paper are working. That's their job. They aren't the typical big city panhandlers looking for an easy handout.
The reason I mention this is, inside every $2 Curbside Chronicle throughout the month of September, there is a free admit one ticket to the Oklahoma City Zoo. Consider it a reward for offering a hand up instead of a hand out.
Lets do the math. If you and your significant other decide to take in a zoo trip with your three kids after funneling chili dogs at the OK State Fair this year, at a minimum you're going to spend $51 just to get the five of you inside the gate. If you happened to buy five copies of The Curbside Chronicle on your way through OKC to the zoo, that total cost becomes just $10. That's $41 extra dollars you have to spend on the zoo stuffs your kids will be begging for before you leave to come back home. It's a win win for everyone involved.
You don't even have to use these discounted "free" tickets this month either, they'll be good through the rest of the year. So the next time you're trying not to make eye contact with the homeless person in the green smock selling papers, you can just give in and score your free tickets on the cheap. The paper salesman will be appreciative, you'll feel like a million bucks, and the kids will once again think you're not so lame after all. Enjoy.
