When it comes to the topic of food in Oklahoma, we're all pretty used to the generalizations of who prefers what, but that's not always accurate. Just because something has "always been that way," it doesn't mean things can't change.

Case and point, for a long time the best fast-food burgers in the Sooner State were a toss-up between Braum's and Sonic. Think about it long and hard now, I don't know anyone who would put those once-great-burgers in a top-10 list today.

The 1/3lb Braum's cheeseburger was once legendary.

Same/same for just about everything. Best BBQ is a toss-up between Burn Co and Butcher BBQ-- Used to be now-defunct Dugan's BBQ. Best steak is between Cattleman's and Click's-- real Okies know it's Henry's in Drummond. Best burger is argued endlessly between Nic's and Sid's-- but the real burger-stunner is at Boomerang in Hollis. (not the chain Boomerang)

For the longest time, practically my entire life, the best chicken fried steak in Oklahoma has been at Kendall's in Noble. They're internationally famous for it, though that may be more-or-less due to the chicken fried challenge... massive portions of fried steak and all the sides.

More isn't always better.

And on top of that, it's always easier to dethrone a king who has become complacent and comfortable with a stagnant legacy.

Enter Cafe 75 in Mounds, Oklahoma. A tiny town in the middle of nowhere with a new king of the chicken fried steak by all accounts. They've only been open about two-ish years, but everyone proclaims they have Oklahoma's best chicken fried steak. In fact, they have a practically untarnished review record on Facebook.

Naturally, experienced eaters are a little suspicious of new eateries with stellar reviews. That's how most restaurants enter the world. Eventually the "new" wears off and people have the mind to really think about their experience and the food after the fact. There's a honeymoon period with new restaurants that usually lasts 3-6 months, but here we are two years into Cafe 75 and the rave reviews keep on coming.

If you ever find yourself up that way, it may be worth stopping in Mounds to try the chicken fried steak. Surely everyone can't be wrong, right?

Oklahoma Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dive's Guy Fieri Raved About On TV

We all know Guy Fieri is the self-proclaimed Mayor of Flavortown, and as such, we generally trust his discerning palate to guide us to the best food any place has to offer. At least the places he tends to go often offer up some really good eats, and in looking at this list, having eaten at most of these places a handful of times, he's not wrong. Here are the Oklahoma original restaurants that have been featured on Triple-D.

Oklahoma's Highest Rated Steakhouses

Being a Top-5 cattle producer, you might expect to find a great steak on the menu of nearly every restaurant in the state, but life is never that simple or easy. The biggest hurdle isn't a lack of steak options on menus, it's the variation of personal tastes that drives reputations and reviews, but here are the steakhouses most Oklahomans can agree on.

Oklahoma's Highest-Rated Barbeque Joints, In No Particular Order...

I doubt there's a single topic debated more passionately in Oklahoma than who makes the best BBQ. While they all smoke meat, there are some huge differences in how that process is done. Type of wood, length of cook, foil vs paper wrap, and even the hot topics of seasoning and binders come into play. What you like others may not, and vice versa. Since we can't just pick a top five or ten, here are the Oklahoma barbeque joints that have the biggest fans.
