Lawton Receives Film Friendly Community Certification
Congratulations to the city of Lawton for achieving an Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Certification. The OF + MO (Oklahoma Film + Music Office) which is a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce along with the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council just announced the news today (09-17-21).
Lawton has successfully completed all the required workshops, programs and applications to receive the OF + MO "Film Friendly" certification. Being certified demonstrates that Lawton is now better prepared for film and television production companies and crews that may want to film in or around the city.
There's been a ton of new movies and television series filmed in Oklahoma lately. If you haven't seen it yet check out Reservation Dogs on Hulu and FX. It's filmed in the Okmulgee and Tulsa area. There's Stillwater staring Matt Damon that was filmed in several different towns and locations in Oklahoma.
Another movie that was filmed in Oklahoma, Minari, won a Golden Globe award for Best Picture- Foreign Language. It was written and directed by Lee Issac Chung and stars Steven Yeun, probably best know for his role as Glenn on The Walking Dead. Another movie that will be out soon called Killers of the Flower Moon that stars
Now that Lawton is a certified film friendly city maybe we'll see a movie or TV show filmed right here. How cool would that be?
