The Lawton Salvation Army kicked off it's annual "Red Kettle Campaign" today (11-17-20) at the west side Country Mart located at 6734 N.W. Cache Road. It's now officially the holiday season! Starting today you'll see and hear volunteers ringing the bell for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle at various stores and locations in Lawton, Fort Sill encouraging donations. The Lawton Salvation Army does a lot to assist others in need and all the donations go to a great cause, helping people right here in our community.

Give whenever possible while you're out shopping this Christmas season, they'll be set up around town with several different locations all collecting donations. I usually carry some extra money and change with me throughout the holiday season so I can drop it into the red kettle. They also have secure payment systems set up for both iPhone and Android so you can still donate even if you aren't carrying cash with you.

Not only can you give money, but your time as well. The Salvation Army is needing volunteers to ring the bell and collect donations at all of their sites this year. Some of the locations include: Country Mart, Walmart both locations, Sam's Club, Big Lots, Cash Savers, Hobby Lobby, Central Mall and the Walmart Neighborhood Market. You can get more information and even sign up by visiting www.registertoring.org You can sign up as an individual, group or even virtually! That's right you can sign up for an online red kettle to help out.

Not only is the Lawton Salvation Army doing the Red Kettle Campaign but the "Angel Tree" as well. Help local and area kids to have a Merry Christmas and have something under the tree. This year the Angel Tree is set up at Walmart on Sheridan road. That's going on now until Monday, December 14th. Please consider adopting an angel this year and help a local family with children to have a very Merry Christmas!
