The wait is almost over! Coming up a little later this week on Thursday, June 24th (06-24-21) at 10:00am the grand reopening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Greer Park tennis courts on 38th Street will take place. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony and re-dedication of the newly improved courts. If you've been by there lately you've probably seen all the construction and improvements the city has been making.

The improvement project and construction were funded by the city's 2015 CIP (Capitol Improvement Plan) program. Around $320,000 was spent making all the needed repairs and completely re-doing all 8 tennis courts. The fencing and windscreens were repaired. The courts have all been resurfaced, repainted and have new nets and poles. All the lighting was replaced with LED and they even added spectator benches along with new water fountains, landscaping and a time lock gate. It's looking really nice!

Greer Park is located on 38th Street across from N.W. Cherry right next to the Kid's Zone playground. Not too sure yet what the official hours of operation will be, but I'm sure it'll be posted and we'll find out this Thursday (06-24-21). I've never played tennis before, maybe I need to get a racket and ball and head over to Greer Park. After all you're never too old to learn and try something new right? I'm pretty sure someone there could show me the ropes. See the official press release from the City of Lawton below:
