Oklahoma legislators are working to strengthen gun rights and self-defense in the Sooner State in 2023. Several new bills and some existing bills yet to be heard will be introduced during the legislative session.

SEVERAL NEW PRO 2A BILLS ARE BEING INTRODUCED & CONSIDERED IN OK.

The Pro 2A bills that are under consideration by Oklahoma lawmakers range from expanding carry rights and self-defense to defending against Federal overreach and infringements to citizens' 2nd Amendment rights.

Senate Bill 80 would better clarify the conditions and justification for "Brandishing" or pointing a firearm at someone in self-defense. Additional bills would require state prosecutors to prove unlawful use of a firearm.

Another bill House Bill 1404 would expand constitutional carry rights to include boats. This would be more of an update to existing gun laws, amending the state's current self-defense act as it relates to permitless carry.

OKLAHOMA SEEKS TO STRENGTHEN ITS 2ND AMENDMENT SANCTUARY STATUS

House Bill 1002 would grant Oklahoma county sheriff departments the authority to arrest any Federal agent or employee that attempts to enforce laws that infringe on the Second Amendment rights of Oklahomans.

Another bill House Bill 2643 would make all Oklahoma-made firearms exempt from Federal regulation. There are numerous Pro 2A bills making their way through the various stages of the Oklahoma legislative process.

We could see the passage of a bill in 2023 that would prohibit the state from conducting any business with banks that discriminate against the firearms industry and customers. These are just a few of the Pro 2A bills.
