Oklahoma’s 2024 Weather Records Are Astounding
Well, if anything, we can all agree Oklahoma's wild weather did not disappoint in 2024.
From the extremely long periods of sweltering heat to the incredible dip into the cold, add in the fall twisters, it was a wild one for sure.
Here are all of the weather records from this year.
Temperatures
The hottest temperature recorded in 2024: 113.3° in Freedom (NWOK)
Coldest temperature recorded: -14.7° in Vinita (NEOK)
Most 100°+ days in a row: Tie- 53 days - Mangum, Altus, Hollis (SWOK)
Highest real-feel heat index: 123.4° in Okmulgee (EasternOK)
Lowest wind chill: -26.8° again in Vinita
Biggest 1-hour temp change: 107.6° to 73.6° in Breckinridge (North-CentralOK)
Biggest 24-hour temp change: 84° to 31.2° again in Breckinridge
Rainfall
We set overall record for average state rainfall during our historically wet November: 7.84"
Greatest 1-hour rainfall amount: 3.62" in Hooker (Panhandle; the location, not the vocation)
Greatest 24-hour rainfall: 7.67" in Goodwell (also Panhandle)
Add in that two very active severe weather seasons - spring and again in fall - 2024 has been a record-setter for sure.
While everyone normally wishes for a White Christmas, I'm sure we'll all be fine with a seasonally warm family holiday.
