If you spend any time on social media, you’ve probably stumbled across the Pemberton Boys. They probably keep showing up in your feed with those sweeping drone shots of the Wichita Mountains and quick-hit history lessons about Southwest Oklahoma.

I first spotted their stuff years ago when they were always posting these long, panoramic drone tours of places we all know but maybe haven’t really looked into... The views of Mount Scott at sunrise and the Wichita's when they were covered in a blanket of snow… all of it looked like something out of a travel show, which is probably why people started paying attention.

For whatever reason, I guess my algorithms changed and I forgot about the channel, until The Pemberton Boys popped up on my TikTok, and that’s where things really took off. Shorter clips and little nuggets of local history... It's great stuff you’d never think twice about until someone points out the story.

@pemberton.boys Hey SW Oklahoma! Let’s talk about the Kiowa County ghost town of Cold Springs! #oklahoma #history #ghosttown #learnontiktok #abandoned ♬ original sound - Pemberton Boys

What I like most is how they keep it simple. No big production fluff or dramatic voice-over. Just clean visuals and chill storytelling, sharing how Southwest Oklahoma has a lot more going on than people give it credit for. And honestly, it’s fun watching outsiders in the comments react like they’ve discovered some hidden national park. They’re shocked we’ve got bison roaming around. They’re shocked we’ve got mountains at all. Meanwhile, the rest of us are sitting here thinking, yeah, man, welcome to the neighborhood.

@pemberton.boys Hey SW Oklahoma! Make sure you check out Red Rock Canyon, near Hinton, when Fall sets in. #oklahoma #drone #waterfalls #explore #beauty ♬ September - slowed + reverb - Wallerstedt

Between the longer YouTube videos and the snack-sized TikToks, the Pemberton Boys are doing what a lot of folks talk about but never really follow through on. They’re documenting the history we grew up around, the land we take for granted, and the stories that slip through the cracks unless somebody bothers to stop and hit record.
