It's always the same people that seem to be always talking smack on Lawton.

1: People who have never lived anywhere else.
2: People who have lived anywhere else.

It's usually the crowd of people that have lived the smallest lives of pure frustrated boredom that is the most outspoken about the place in which they currently reside. You know the type... That "Life would be so much better if I lived in _________" person.

Truth be told, there are no boring places, just boring people. Believe me, you can trust me on this as I used to be one of these people. I always said that living in the Mayberry town I grew up in. Corpus Christie, OKC, Houston, Dallas traffic, Tulsa rivers and more, I moved back to Lawton. It just fits.

To be fair, I'm not saying just because it fits me it should fit you... I'm just saying Lawton's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Are the roads bad? Yes. Do we have a shortage of police officers which leads to an elevated crime rate? Yes. Did our city council buy a money-pit of a mall over what we can now logically determine was a few too many cocktails? Absolutely. But that doesn't make Lawton a "bad" place to live.

If you never saw the 80's classic and the way too many sequels, consider yourself lucky.

In the trend of being a Lawton, there can only be one.
