Good news! The City of Lawton just announced that Lawton Recreation Centers will reopen today (04-12-21). It's been forever since we've been able to visit the rec-centers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it's been close to a year now at least. All 3 centers have reopened the H.C. King Center located at1705 NW 20th Street, the Owens Multipurpose Center on 1405 SW 11th Street along with the Patterson Center at 4 NE Arlington Drive. It's great that we'll be able to return to the rec-centers and make use of all the facilities.

As far as we know all 3 have reopened with their regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 11:00am until 7:00pm. Now there are some new rules in place that you'll have to follow to use the rec-centers. More than likely these will be temporary rules as things continue to improve with the pandemic. You'll have to wear a face mask or covering while indoors, they will be reducing the occupancy for each center to around 30 people at a time and all visitors must have a temperature check prior to entry.

We can now get back to playing basketball, shooting pool, hanging out in the game room and even renting rooms and space for private parties and events. I know the kids are excited and it's nice that they'll have a safe place to go. Now that we're seeing our COVID-19 cases drop and the vaccine is more available it won't be too much longer before some of the organized sports, classes and events return to the rec-centers as well. For all the details on the reopening of the recreation centers see the official press release below:
