This past Friday (08-06-21) Oklahoma District Judge Anthony Bonner Jr. ordered the state to resume the additional Federal unemployment benefits in Oklahoma that are a part of the "American Rescue Plan."
I've seen more and more posts online from people who are trying to get the basics like bottled water and are having a hard time finding it. Today I went out to several places and most were fully stocked and had more on the way.
The City of Lawton just announced that they will be reinstating their COVID-19 policies for face masks at all city owned properties. You'll be required to wear a face mask to enter all city owned facilities and proprieties where city employees work, or conduct business with the general public.
There's been a lot of rumors and false information on social media and elsewhere about Walmart and Sam's Club requiring face masks. This was the big topic over the weekend that had people upset and posting all kinds of things about a mask mandate.
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations CCHM (Comanche County Memorial Hospital) will be reinstating their COVID-19 policies and restrictions starting today (07-30-21).
Just when you think we're finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel we get more bad news about Oklahoma's COVID-19 numbers. Unfortunately Oklahoma is leading the Nation and not in a good way when it comes to the number of new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and even deaths.
Over the past couple of days and weeks Oklahoma has seen a sharp increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. From what's been reported it's around a 90% increase when compared to previous weeks. It's suspected that around 190 plus cases are being reported per day. This has state healthcare experts concerned as the number of new cases continues to rise and the threat of the Delta Variant is looming.
So now that things are finally starting to improve and it's looking like we're on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, are you back to shaking hands and hugging people? I know I am. To be perfectly honest I never really stopped doing it, much to the disgust, shock and horror of others. I couldn't tell you how many times I'd stick my hand out or go to hug someone during the pandemic, it's a really hard habit to break. I do it all the time without even thinking about it. I felt bad, some people were terrified and I'd have to stop and remember "Oh' right we're not doing that anymore."
The child tax credit monthly payments will start next month on July 15th (07-15-21). It's a part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 signed by President Joe Biden. Families with children ages 5 and under will receive $3,600 and $3,000 for children ages 6-17. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 increased the standard child tax credit for 2021 from $2,000 to $3,000 and up to $3,600 for families with kids 5 and under for each child.
