You know how adult life is. The regular, normal stuff you do all the time is more routine than "special." Most people hate when life becomes predictable, but not me. Routine is my bang-zone.

I'm the type who can eat the same meal day in and day out for months on end. In fact, every time I mention a new dish I had recently to my small group of coworkers, they refer to it as my "new obsession meal."

I've accepted that it's a quirk, but it doesn't change my personal goal in eating out and entertainment. I like what I like, and I'll keep ordering something in the hopes it was exactly the same as it was the last time. If there's any deviation, there's usually a problem, but the last time I went to Texas Roadhouse, it caught me by surprise.

Big 'Ol Rolls

Texas Roadhouse's rolls have been the topic of lively debate for the last five years. While they've always been suspiciously delicious, there have been a few debacles surrounding those yeasty pillows over the years.

Most recently, it was the recipe. Everyone online was convinced Texas Roadhouse changed their recipe, and they just weren't the same. Roadhouse responded with a firm "No," and if you ever see their recruitment ads, there's a team of people in each restaurant whose only job is to make rolls these days.

Before that, during the pandemic, the rolls became super-small.

More like savory, buttery donut holes than actual dinner rolls, but they started returning to normal with the economy in 2025. Skip forward to now, and I think we accidentally stumbled onto the largest rolls Roadhouse has ever served. I've got big hands and they were the size of my fist. A proper dinner roll.

I guess it's only natural that it was served up in Oklahoma's newest and biggest Texas Roadhouse location here in Lawton. Given the accidentally very well-done medium-rare steak they served me, it was the only saving grace of the meal that night.

Will they always be this big at the Lawton Roadhouse? Time will tell. It's certainly something to look forward to when the steak isn't edible.
