The Lack Of Sports Opens Eyes To New Sports
The lack of sports being on the tube while everyone is bullied into be at home is, well, not that big of a deal. I was never one for watching baseball, basketball, or more than two or three football games in any given year... but I'm having withdraws of sports I actually enjoy. Curling was a big one for me. I was able to catch the USA Curling Nationals in early March, which aired on TV over Spring Break, but even they had a Covid-19 outbreak at the event thanks to participants pushing through their weird cold to compete. Alas, the world of sports is opening up again. Providing everyone more than the standard Ocho type events like championship cornhole and the like...
In Europe, one of the fastest growing sports is kids sport bike racing. MotoGP events with literal children on tiny little pocketbikes. Of course, these aren't the little bikes you'd pick up at that sketchy used-to-be-a-car-lot place either... These are factory built and sponsored machines from the top manufacturers in the world. Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Ducati, etc... Minibike racing. We'd have never found it if sports were still happening in the US.
