Just like it happens each year when the temps cool off and fall starts to actually set into Southwest Oklahoma, the Lawton Chapter of Ambucs is gearing up to host their annual Pancake Day at Great Plains Coliseum. If you've never been, make this the year you join in for a great cause.

Tickets to this event are $8 if you buy in advance or $10 at the door the day of. For your money, you'll enjoy a plate full of everyone's favorite breakfast foods. Freshly cooked fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, and your choice of sausage or bacon. There are options for pancake syrup, and a drink is included.

After you've meandered your way through the line talking to everyone around you, the Great Plains Coliseum is lined with dozens of tables and you're welcome to sit down, have breakfast for any meal you choose, and just have a good time with your friends, coworkers, new strangers you've met, etc... It's a great way to meet new people from around Lawton.

Here's something that's new in 2021, if you don't want to sit down and enjoy a meal in the coliseum due to Covid-19 fears or social anxiety, there are options. You can always elect to take your pancake meal to-go as always, or you can enjoy quick drive-thru service and have your meal wherever you want.

So what's the catch? There is no catch. It's no different than having a meal out anywhere else, except the money you pay for this food is used to do some seriously awesome charitable work.

If you weren't aware, Ambucs owns and operates Amtrykes. It's the company that provides special needs tricycles to those children with disabilities who would otherwise not enjoy the independence and mobility that other bike-riding kids do. Funding the building and providing of these "trykes" is what this day is all about in our community.

While the experience of eating with new and old friends for a good cause is an all-around fun event, remember that the point is to raise money. While advance tickets are cheaper, don't feel too obligated to accept your change when purchasing a ticket prior to November 1st. You can find advance tickets at these locations.
