Earlier this week we had Justin Hackney in the studio for a quick interview to talk about all his incredible murals and get caught up on what's next. If the name sounds familiar that's because Justin Hackney and Spreading PAINT have done several of the murals around town. More than likely you're a fan of his work and have seen some of his masterful murals while out and about in Lawton, Fort Sill. They're everywhere!

He took some time out of his busy schedule this week to stop by the studios, sit down with us and talk about everything he's up to. He's a busy guy and we really appreciate him coming in to hang out and visit with us.

Justin's company Spreading PAINT does some amazing murals and he's always looking for new walls to paint. We tried to count up all the murals he's done in Lawton and we both lost track, but we have a gallery below that lists them out and tells you where you can find them. There are a lot of them around town.

Right now he's taking a short break from painting murals to prepare for the Halloween season at the Vaska Theatre, which he owns and operates. If you haven't heard the news yet the Vaska will be showing Hocus Pocus complete with shadow cast for a "Hex-A-Long" interactive movie experience starting this Friday (10-15-21). They'll also be showing it this Saturday (10-16-21). You can get all the details by clicking here.

He'll be back to painting murals soon and already has a few ideas in mind. We asked what was next and he's working on a "Medical Heroes" mural that will tribute all of our healthcare workers and first responders. He hopes to get that one finished soon. Not too sure where it's located, but once it's completed I'm sure we will.

We asked what his favorite mural is that's he's painted so far and he said it was the Amy Winehouse mural on the side of Phillips Music Company. It's an incredible painting, you can see it below in the photo gallery. It's one of several murals that Justin painted on Phillips Music along with Ray Charles and The Beatles.

He's got some murals in the works for the very near future at the Vaska Theatre. He'll be doing a movie mural mash-up combining an 80s and 90s movie in an unlikely pairing. Can't wait to see that one, sounds awesome! He also told us he's wanting to paint a mural of Sam Elliot in bright neon. Sounds weird, but he showed us a concept drawing of it and it looks epic! As soon as he can find a wall big enough he'll get to work on it.

Justin Hackney's murals are a popular place for people to go to take selfies and other photos. He's done a lot of them, so it can be challenging to find them all. We put together a photo list complete with addresses so you can check them all out for yourself. As impressive as they are from the road they're really impressive up close and personal. So scroll through the photo gallery below, pick your favorites, and head that way!

The Weirdest Stoplight Locations In Lawton

Driving around town, a person might logically assume the stoplight locations were picked by throwing darts at a map of Lawton. Here are some of the standout, more oddly placed traffic control devices.

John Wayne: An American Experience museum Ft. Worth, TX.

If you're a fan of the Duke you have to make the trip to Ft. Worth and visit the John Wayne: An American Experience museum. It's located in the Ft. Worth Stockyards at 2501 Rodeo Plaza. The gallery below isn't even close to half of what you'll see there. With 10,000 square feet and several rooms, the exhibit has everything from John Wayne's early childhood to his final days. You can get up close and personal with all the costumes, wardrobe, and props that John Wayne used in his films and throughout his career. Along with all the great displays throughout the exhibit, there are quotes from the Duke, interactive video and audio sections, and most, if not all of the walls are covered in photo murals and picture collages of the Duke.
