Watch an Oklahoma Storm Develop into a Tornado
It seems spring has arrived early across Oklahoma. We're normally enjoying the last few freezes and the occasional late snow during March, but not in 2025.
We're off to the races with tornadoes this early in the year.

This week began with eight different tornadoes in the Sooner State, and even though the whole country hasn't seen a legendary EF5 in over a decade, we're all still a little gun-shy thinking the next one could be it.
My nephew gets into a state of sheer terror when the weather turns sour. When the clouds roll in and start to block out the sun, he's a little on edge. We all try to calm him as best we can, I even showed him the Oklahoma classic Twister and took him to see the sequel last summer, and while he's better, it only helps so much.
I really think if more people knew what was happening in a storm and what to look for, these mysterious twisters would be less intimidating.
The Internet Provides.
Luckily YouTube is full of content on tornadoes. While a lot of the videos are just clickbait scary videos, there is some interesting straightforward content I think we can all find interesting. Like the full life-cycle of a tornado.
It may be a little shaky, but you can see it's not smoke and mirrors. It's just wind that gets turned upside down.
Since they're unpredictable, there's no telling where they'll pop up and what they'll destroy. It's just the nature of the beast.
If you like a slightly more in-depth look at a tornado put into simple terms, this is the video I like to reference. Nothing too scientific or over your head, just how and why tornadoes form.
While the weather professionals tend to really ramp up the drama with these storms, as if they're not dramatic enough, it's mostly just for ratings sake.
Arm yourself with a little information, it'll surely make tornado season less scary.
