One of the most surprising things about Lawton, Fort Sill is the lack of having an indoor shooting range. With as big of a hunting and shooting community that we have it's crazy that we don't have one. Being able to enjoy the shooting sports, training and instruction regardless of what Mother Nature is up to would be a huge deal. How awesome would it be to have an indoor facility in Lawton, or just outside the city limits?

There are several, well at least a few, outdoor ranges around Lawton, Fort Sill if you're looking for a place to get some trigger time in. If you're not lucky enough to have some property outside city limits, or some friends and family members who live in the county there are a few options. I do enjoy shooting outdoors and 99% of the time that's exactly what I'm doing. Normally I go to a private range or property.

Some of the outdoor ranges we have include: Diamond Defense, there's Ausley's Law Enforcement Accessories who has a range East of town. Elgin, OK. has a small indoor range at Bare Arms. They're also talking about adding an outdoor range as well. In Duncan, OK. there's Murf's Shooting Range which is indoor.

You can also go to the Stephens County Rifle and Pistol Club. It's an outdoor range and they do USPSA (United State Practical Shooting Association) matches as well. It's a private range so you'll need a membership in order to use the range. In Wichita Falls, TX. there's High Caliber which is a gun store and indoor range. A really nice facility and everyone that works there is awesome and very helpful.

Sure there are places you can go, but if Elgin, Duncan and Wichita Falls can have indoor facilities why not Lawton? It's over due. We should have our own indoor range that could provide not only a great place to shoot, but safety courses, instruction, training and even competitive shooting opportunities.

Even better, why not have both? An indoor range and outdoor range at the same place, along with a gun store. Now that would be ideal. I can't be the only one thinking this. Hell, I'd practically live there...
