Winter Storm Blair Won’t Bring Much Snow to Oklahoma
If you happen to still have a few leaves on your trees, depending on where you're at in Oklahoma, Winter Storm Blair should make pretty quick work of stripping them bare as it rolls through the Sooner State this weekend.
It's going to get very cold across a very wide swath of Oklahoma.
Luckily, the early-forecasts of heavy snow don't seem to be holding up as we work out way into the weekend. Just a few days ago, there were some very bold predictions of up to a foot of snow for the Northern Oklahoma communities, as well as inches down into Southern Oklahoma.
That doesn't appear to be happening, and as we all try to gently start into the new year, a forecast that's wrong about heavy snow is OK with the vast majority of Oklahomans... but we may not go unscathed.
What to expect.
While the Southern half of Oklahoma may skate through Blair with relative ease - some deep cold and maybe the odd chance of thunderstorms - there is a solid chance for ice in the Northern half of the state.
With breezy highs in the 20s and rain predicted on the front, ice is going to be a big concern.
It may not be comforting, but ice is generally what Oklahoma gets this time of year.
How long will it last?
By all accounts and predictions, even areas expecting more ice than snow won't spend much time in the Arctic air. Blair is expected to be a here-and-gone storm that shouldn't interrupt your life for more than a day, maybe two.
Even the portions of the state forecasted to be the coldest should climb back above freezing by Wednesday afternoon.
