Governor Stitt just declared a Winter weather state of emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties. He just signed the executive orders this afternoon and it will be in effect statewide until weather conditions improve. Oklahoma is expected to get extremely cold temperatures, snow, ice and all kinds of frozen precipitation over the next few days. At his time we're looking at a 80% chance of snow on Sunday, there's a 50% chance on Tuesday and 40% chance of snow on Wednesday. Temperatures will be well below freezing and even below zero for parts of the weekend and going into next week.

It's not looking to good and with snow fall predictions everywhere from 2-4 inches all the way to 10-15 inches it's going to be a rough couple of days, maybe even weeks. It will be the worst Winter weather we've seen all year and some of the worst we've seen ever, or at least in the past couple of years. I can't remember when we've gotten a forecast with this much snow and ice or the record low temperatures we're facing. With this type of storm there's going to be damage, power outages and all kinds of other misery I'm sure. At least we're getting prepared for it as best we can.

It's been said again and again, when it does start snowing and icing up stay off the roads if at all possible. Remain indoors where it's warm and avoid travel as much as possible. If you do get out give yourself plenty of time to get to wherever it is you're going. Watch those bridges and overpasses, along with your speed. Give lots of room for other vehicles and braking. Avoid passing other vehicles and keep an eye out for other motorists both on the road and on the shoulder who maybe stuck.

Hopefully you've heeded all the warnings and have been preparing for the storm. Every local and National weather/news service have been forecasting one of the worst Winter storms we've seen in years. It's certainly better to be prepared than not, so before Sunday if you haven't gotten the "Bread & Milk" I'd hit the stores while you still can. Get stocked up on all the essentials, just in case it gets really bad. Below is the official executive order that details the Winter weather state of emergency.
