Oklahoma’s Legendary BBQ on Route 66
There's some legendary BBQ on historic Route 66 in Oklahoma. I can't believe I've lived here for as long as I have and still haven't made it to Jake's Bar-B-Q in Oklahoma City. Well, that's all about to change. The family and I will be heading to OKC later this month and plan to stop by Jake's for a late lunch or early dinner. I hear they have some of the very best BBQ in the state, some say the entire country. They've been doing it for over 50 years now so it's gotta be good. This I have to try for myself!
Jake's Bar-B-Q is located at 4418 N.W. 39th Expy in Oklahoma City, OK. which is on historic Route 66. Oklahoma has the longest stretch of the Mother Road, around 400 plus miles of it. That's more than any other state, and there's plenty of things to see and plenty of places to eat along the way, including great BBQ!
The family and I are doing stay-cations around the state visiting different places in the Sooner State we've never seen or been to before and there are a lot of them. Next Summer I'm thinking we need to plan a family road trip down Route 66 and see all the sights. We could start and end our trip with a visit to Jake's!
Now it's got me thinking of how many other BBQ places there may be along Route 66 in the Sooner State, I bet there's a bunch of them. That would be an EPIC family vacation. Drive the entire strip all 400 miles of Route 66 in Oklahoma and hit BBQ joints at every stop. Now that sounds like a slice of heaven for sure!
