Oklahoma’s First Big Food Recall for 2025
The first twelve days of the new year have been pretty eventful for Oklahoma. We had our first big blast of winter weather at the end of the first full week, and more is expected to head our way in the next 7-10 days.
Meteorologists have been using the word "blizzard," and now there is a nationwide recall on a very popular pantry staple cold-weather food.

If you're still stocked up from the last round of snow, you might double-check your cupboards to see if you have any chicken broth lying about.
Specifically, Great Value chicken broth.
This recall is only for the family-size 48-ounce cartons of GV chicken broth. Not that it has a risk of the common recall contenders - e coli and listeria - but the recall is in-depth about the packaging.
Apparently the packaging is experiencing failure rates high enough to warrant the recall. In vague detail, the FDA has stated the cartons could come unsealed, leading to the broth inside spoiling, which poses a health risk for those who might consume it in the future.
Nobody has fallen ill from it yet, they caught this one very early on. That being said, it was distributed across 242 Walmart stores in 9 states--including Oklahoma and Texas--sold late last year. Affected containers have an expiration date printed of March 2026. If you have any, you're best bet is to toss it out.
Walmart is offering a full refund, but at $2, who wants the hassle of returning chicken broth after Christmas?
