We just got the word that the Lawton Armed Forces Parade is a go for this year! Unfortunately it was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it's returning for 2021. The Lawton Armed Forces parade is one of the longest running and biggest Armed Forces parades in the country. Lawton has been doing it for well over 50 years and counting. The City of Lawton, the Lawton Chamber of Commerce along with several  local and area businesses as well as volunteers from all over team up every year to put this on.

The parade in Lawton is a celebration of Armed Forces Day which is celebrated Nationwide on the third Saturday of May each year. While the parade in Lawton is scheduled to happen after the Military holiday on Saturday, June 12th (06-12-21) it's still in observance of Armed Forces Day. Every state and city observes Armed Forces Day in their own way from picnics, festivals, parties to parades. Each year a new theme is announced for Armed Forces Day, this year the theme is "Grand Ole Flag."

After it was cancelled last year, it's great that it's back in 2021. Looking forward to this years parade on Saturday, June 12th (06-12-21). It will start at 10:00am in downtown Lawton on C Avenue at the Central Mall and make it's way to Elmer Thomas Park on Ferris Avenue. You can line the sides of the streets along the parade route. If you'd like to be a part of the parade itself you can stop by the Lawton Chamber of Commerce at 302 W. Gore to fill out an entry form. Around 70 plus entries are expected to be a part of the annual Armed Forces Parade. Get all the details for this year's parade, see the official press release below:
