There's been a rumor going around town that the City is considering purchasing the old Lawtonian Apartment building next to the Central Plaza in downtown Lawton. Some say it would be used in conjunction with FISTA.

A downtown Lawton business is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month. Massad's Gift Shop located at 413 S.W. C Avenue opened back in 1981 and has been serving the Lawton, Fort Sill community ever since.

Now that the City of Lawton owns the Central Mall they're looking to fill empty space and there's a lot of it! Parts of the mall will be used for the FISTA project and the other for retail stores and restaurants. They hope to fill all the remaining empty spaces in the mall with new stores, places to eat and other businesses.
We just got the word that the Lawton Armed Forces Day Parade is a go for this year! Unfortunately it was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it's returning for 2021. The Lawton Armed Forces Day parade is one of the longest running and biggest Armed Forces Day parades in the country.
First Baptist Church in downtown Lawton located at 501 S.W. B Avenue will be having a food distribution event tomorrow morning (04-10-21) starting at 9:00am. They'll be handing out FREE FOOD that includes milk, meat, dairy and produce while supplies last.
