The Trout Are Finally Stocked Across Oklahoma, Time to Go Winter Fishing
While the wild and unpredictable weather held off Oklahoma's trout stocking in some fisheries around the state, it appears all cold-water usual lakes and creeks are good to go now.
It's hard to say whether it was the unseasonably dry conditions leading up to November, or the unseasonably wet and severe conditions as we started November, but the annual trout stocking across the Sooner State was put off for a while.
As of now, it appears all Oklahoma trout fisheries have been stocked for now, possibly the season.
Oklahoma's Department of Wildlife Conservation does a fantastic job of managing our state fisheries, but the normal scheduling wasn't in the cards for 2024. Unusually warm weather late into fall made fishing more enjoyable, like an endless summer, but now that the weather has turned, we're right into winter species.
Trout and Crappie are the two obvious species when it gets icy on the docks, but there is a lake in Oklahoma that features quite the surprise. Tiger-Muskie.
