If you've been on Ferris Avenue near the Museum of the Great Plains in Lawton, OK. lately, you may have seen all the activity and increased traffic. A lot of people are curious as to what's going on and why things are so busy at the museum. We have a film crew in town shooting some movie scenes and using the 'Trading Post' at the museum as their location. The movie is called 'Washington's Armor' and will be released in 2022.

'Washington's Armor' will tell the tale of George Washington's younger years, about 20 or so years prior to the Revolutionary War. It's basically the origin story of the most famous Founding Father and how he overcame all the challenges and trials to become our Nation's first President and the Father of our Country.

So what does Washington's past have to do with Lawton, Fort Sill, and the museum? As it turns out the 'Trading Post' at the museum makes for the perfect location to film scenes that will highlight the time Washington spent at Fort Le Boeuf which was founded by the French back in 1753.

After seeing pictures of the 'Trading Post' it was decided that it would be ideal to represent Fort Le Boeuf in the film. How cool is that? This will be the first film project or movie shot in Lawton, Fort Sill after the city achieved its "Film Friendly City" certification from the Oklahoma Film + Music Office.

You can hit play on the video above for the official trailer for 'Washington's Armor.' I'm looking forward to seeing it and seeing our 'Trading Post' in the movie along with several locals as movie extras. The new film will be released on February 21st, 2022 (02-21-22) on President's Day, how appropriate is that?

They'll be in town shooting over the next couple of days. If you're interested in becoming an extra in the movie you can get all the details below from the official press release below from the City of Lawton: Arts & Humanity Division. It may be too late for that, but you never know. You can also visit the official 'Washington's Armor' website to stay up to date with everything that's going on and details on the release.
