When I lived in Texas I noticed the famous town names making the long drive between Corpus Christie and my Northern Oklahoma hometown. It always made me curious to see what Paris, Texas looked like or if Bel-Aire, Texas was really fancy.

Spoilers - it's not.

After traveling all over Oklahoma, the Sooner State features a lot of copycat town names too. From big famous cities to lesser-known communities. When these towns were named I doubt the larger cities were the stature that they are today.
