You Tuber Visits the Old K-Mart Building in Lawton and Shoots Video for His Channel
I just stumbled across this video while going down rabbit holes on YouTube yesterday evening. Late last year a YouTuber named WallieB26 took some video of the empty K-Mart building on 38th Street in Lawton for his channel. He was visiting family in the area and while traveling around he saw the old K-Mart and decided to shoot a quick video. His Channel features several videos of abandoned buildings and places he's visited.
You can check out his YouTube channel WallieB26 for all kinds of video content that contains creepy places and old buildings that have been shut down and shuttered up. It's weird that a place that was once so active and inviting can become so scary and foreboding when abandoned. As soon as they're empty they almost instantly have that creepy, horror vibe to them and quickly become places you really don't want to go inside.
Watch the video below from YouTube channel WallieB26 about the old K-Mart
At the start of the video, WallieB26 talks about how many abandoned buildings we have in Lawton, Fort Sill, and how he didn't have time to visit them all, how sad is that? I mean it's true but really sad. The first impression most people have of our city when they visit or just travel through is seeing all the empty spaces, and not empty in a good way. Also, most if not all the entrances into town aren't exactly the nicest looking either. Don't get me wrong I love Lawton, Fort Sill but let's be honest at first glance, it looks a little sketchy.
It's a great place to live and work in my opinion, but how others see Lawton is quite different. Things are improving and our reputation is starting to grow more positive, especially over the past 3-5 years or so. But we still have some work to do and improvements to make if we want people to consider Lawton as a place to visit, live, work and retire. It's something we all have to work on and do our part to make happen.
As far as this video they didn't know that the old K-Mart building is going to be the new home of U-Haul click here for details. So it won't be abandoned for much longer. After seeing the video it looks like it's going to take quite a bit of repair and remodeling to get it in shape. Hopefully, we'll continue to grow and improve so when you hit play on a YouTube video about Lawton it won't be about all the abandoned buildings we have.
