Oklahoma’s Chicken Fried Steak Challenge is No Joke
While the pork sandwich may be atop Oklahoma's Official Meal list, the humble chicken-fried steak is still King across the Sooner State.
Why? Because it's so dang good!
While I would say "Who cares" about how unhealthy this hearty meal might be, you can't deny it has slowly disappeared from restaurant menus over the last two decades, even in the heart of Oklahoma... but that's a franchise restaurant trend. Just about every local eatery in the state still offers this amazing deep-fried cut of beef, but only one features the legendary Chicken Fry Challenge.
Welcome to Kendall's Restaurant in Noble. Home of the nearly impossible chicken-fried food challenge.
Piled high on the plate is three of Kendall's huge chicken-fried steaks, two scoops of mashed potatoes (or fries if you like), side salad, two sides of green beans, a homemade biscuit, and two cinnamon rolls.
Every challenger gets one hour to finish it all off, but spoiler... not many ever do. It has been done a handful of times in the last few decades, but it's a huge challenge! Most challengers usually end up stuffing their leftovers into a Kendall's "quitters box."
Even though the meal can make a person miserable, it's still so delicious they'll take it home to eat it again later.
If you do manage to finish the challenge, you'll be bestowed a t-shirt and a free meal.
Sound like something you'd like to tackle? Kendall's is in Noble, been around forever, and it's worth whatever drive you have to make there. Here's their facebook.
