When it comes to the cities and towns that are experiencing the biggest population booms, you've probably seen all of the metrics. For big cities with 100k-ish people, it's the usual places. OKC, Tulsa, Norman, Edmond, Lawton, Broken Arrow, etc...

For smaller towns 30k+, you've probably seen those numbers too, but the story you've gotten from the news media doesn't tell the tale. In terms of pure statistics, it's the smaller rural towns that are experiencing the biggest booms. Quite literally Sooner State towns you've probably never heard of.

It's not a new trend either. For the better part of a decade, the youngest generation of adults has continually opted to live in small rural towns over the big cities. Whether it's craving for small-town life, a quiet place to call home, lower costs of living, and bigger homes on the cheap, I can't tell you how many younger Millennials and Zoomers are choosing places like Marlow, Elgin, Sperry, and Antlers over the big cities.

The trend right now is rural suburbs, but it's not as one-way as it used to be. In the past small-town young adults have done anything to move to bigger cities. Today, the exact opposite is happening. Well-educated big-city young adults are moving to Podunk, Oklahoma in droves.

Strictly by the numbers, here are the real fastest-growing towns in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma's Fastest Growing Cities In 2025

While it was thought to be a fluke during the pandemic, the trend of small-town living is still on point, especially with Oklahoma's youngest adults. Whether it's the lower cost of living or just the simple shunning of the noise and chaos of big cities, the trend is rural suburbs and towns that still remain unincorporated.
