Back in 2001, the Rock Cafe was officially listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has been recognized by numerous state and National organizations and historians throughout its 80-plus years.

Ol' "Betsy" pictured above has been around for well over 75-plus years and she's still going strong to this day. She was severely damaged in the fire back in 2008 but was lovingly restored back to her original beauty.

In 2001 John Lasseter and research crews from Pixar Animation Studios visited the Rock Cafe while doing research on Route 66 for the movie 'Cars.' Needless to say, they fell in love with the place and its history.

From 2001 to 2005 John Lasseter and Pixar crews made several trips to the Rock Cafe while working on the film. After getting to know the owner Dawn Welch they were inspired to create a character just like her.
