No matter where you live there are things you like and some things you dislike, that's normal. If you're new to the state or considering moving to Oklahoma like most places there are Pros and Cons to living here.

The thing is wherever you live, you'll bring yourself along. Which means it's totally up to you and what you make of it. Like Mom always said, "There's no such thing as being bored, just boring people."  Oklahoma is my home and has been for well over 35 plus years. I love the Sooner State and can't imagine living elsewhere.

So what are some of the Pros of living in Oklahoma? For me, it's the people. We have some of the friendliest and neighborly people in the country. You always hear that from visitors or from those who may have just moved here. The cost of living is much, much cheaper when compared to other states.

Pro: Oklahoma has some amazing wildlife and outdoor activities to enjoy

If you're into the great outdoors and wildlife this is the state for you. We have all kinds of great outdoor activities and places to go for hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. We also have some of the most beautiful landscapes and lakes around. Oklahoma has some of the most diverse land types to be found in a single state. From plains, mountains, forests, to swamps and just about everything else you can imagine.

We also have a rich history and culture. Oklahoma is home to several different Native American tribes. There's always something to see, learn and do. If you're a sports fan we have some of the best college and high school sport teams anywhere. Football is HUGE here and no matter who's playing or at what level the fans are out in force. We might not have an NFL team, but we do have the OKC Thunder!

So what are some of the cons of living in Oklahoma? For starters, I'd say the crazy weather. We can have all four seasons and a monsoon in a day, that's no joke. As the saying goes "If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, just give it a minute." It can get insanely hot here in the Spring//Summer months.

Winter isn't too bad, but it can get very cold and we do see snow and ice pretty regularly. You haven't lived until you've witnessed the winter splendor of Okies on ice, it's something to behold...Absolutely incredible!

For every person who berates us for not being able to drive on snow and ice and makes fun of us when we say it's cold outside, they regret their smugness come Summer. They always say stuff like "It's not cold you should live in XYZ that's cold, you guys are wussies."

Con: Oklahoma has some of the most erratic and dangerous weather in the Nation

I always tell them to check back with me around August or September. Then they're saying "My God how do you live here it's so hot." That's when you hit them back with "You must be a wussy, it gets a lot hotter than this, I'm not even sweating yet."

Adding to the crazy weather and Mother Nature's moodiness we also get tornadoes, especially during the prime storm season from May to June. That's a BIG CON of living in Oklahoma.

However, after you've been here for a while you get used to it. I know that sounds weird, but it's true. Before you know it you'll be like the rest of us watching from the front porch and making statements like "It sounded like a freight train" on the local news. Naders aren't something you take lightly, but you do get used to it. So there are far more Pros than Cons when it comes to living in Oklahoma, at least for me anyway.
