No doubt about it, Oklahoma is a windy state.

We didn't earn the top spot as the windiest state in the nation. That honor belongs to Alaska. Even among the lower 48, Wyoming takes the cake as extremely high winds frequently fall over the Rockies and spread across the plains.

That being said, when science breaks down the metrics, at least one Oklahoma town cracked the top ten windiest cities with over 50k population, and that's the dead giveaway.

Oklahoma City was named the tenth windiest city in America with an average daily wind speed of 11.3 MPH.

The full ranking:

  1. Amarillo, Texas
  2. Rochester, Minnesota
  3. Lubbock, Texas
  4. Casper, Wyoming
  5. Corpus Christi, Texas
  6. Wichita, Kansas
  7. Boston, Massachusetts
  8. Great Falls, Montana
  9. New York City, NY
  10. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Top 20 Oklahoma Towns Most Hated by Okies

Oklahoma spends quite a bit of time talking about why we don't like everywhere else. Like Sooner fans and people in Southern OK talk trash on Texas, Northern OK hates Kansas, Eastern OK isn't fond of Arkansas, etc... but what about our own state?

I ran across a dead thread on liberal Facebook--AKA--Reddit where people were talking in detail trying to rank the worst cities in the state. While you may not agree politically with your fellow statesmen, you really can't defend a lot of this. Here's the list for least worse to absolute worst as voted by them.

If your family is like my family, by the time you start a family of your own, the family home grows smaller as time passes. You and the siblings start having kids, Grandma and Grandpa stress about needing more space to fit everyone, and the obvious answer is to book a stay away for the holidays.

I don't know if you know this or not, but Oklahoma is primed for holiday travel. Whether you're from the Sooner State, or you're one of the thousands of Texans that flood in for the holiday, here are the best places in the state to have your family Christmas getaway.
